About Us

The first branch of Pertemps was opened in Birmingham in 1961 by Mrs Constance Watts, the mother of the present Chairman, Tim Watts. Over forty years hence, the company has grown to become the largest independent recruitment consultancy in the U.K. and just as important, is still privately owned.

This has resulted in the retention of the original values set down by Mrs Watts, to provide a caring and individual approach when dealing with those seeking employment.

With more than 200 branches nationwide, responding to every conceivable recruitment need, Pertemps has a wealth of experience in dealing with people.

About Us Pertemps Employment Alliance was established under the group umbrella in April 2000, after the successful delivery of a New Deal pilot programme to help long-term unemployed job seekers over 25 years of age.

A small team began to help an initial intake of clients in 1999 from a base in Smith’s Wood, North Solihull.

Each client faced their own barriers to employment but with innovative and individual help from the team, 300 long-term unemployed residents had accessed the workplace by the end of the first year. Every individual helped had been out of work for at least six months, but in reality the average length of unemployment was over 4 years.

Accessing the workplace and then sustaining that employment was a major breakthrough for many people; we are now assisting over 6,500 prospective employees in achieving the same result.

The successful delivery of New Deal and Employment Zone programmes has seen Pertemps Employment Alliance emerge as a market leader in helping the disadvantaged job seeker to secure employment.

This success is currently being applied to the Action Teams for Jobs project, New Deal 18-24 Gateway and as a platform to bid for more government initiatives addressed at the problems of unemployment.

To enhance our service we have established strong and effective partnerships with business through our Employer Liaison Team, developing an impressive database with in excess of 20,000 employers, over 8,000 of which have provided sustainable employment for participants joining our programmes.

Additionally as part of the Pertemps Group of companies, we have access to 80 of the top 100 FTSE quoted companies.

Community engagement is also a vital component of our work. Working together with selected organisations, charities, community groups and regeneration initiatives ensures that we can not only identify and interact with those in most need of help, but are in a position to influence and often co-ordinate the work that takes place.

About Us We have achieved considerable success through imaginative delivery, by a workforce reflecting and celebrating the cultural diversity of the communities within which we operate.

Two awards already achieved, Investors in People and Positive about Disability, have been followed by a commitment to achieving several Excellence Awards in the near future.

Pertemps Employment Alliance continues to make a hugely positive impact, contributing to the regeneration of communities and helping many inner city residents achieve economic stability and a new self-belief.
