PPDG is helping dozens of city school children get bowled over by cricket by stumping up and funding the 4th annual Rotary Club of Moseley & Sparkbrook’s Quick Cricket Tournament.
Five teams from primary schools in the Sparkbrook and Sparkhill areas, St John’s, Montgomery Street, Nelson Mandela, Conway and Clifton schools, will be joined by an All Stars team consisting of players from each of the schools.
Winners of last year’s quick cricket tournament, Nelson Mandela School, celebrate with the umpires.
The Rotary Club of Moseley & Sparkbrook’s Quick Cricket Tournament will take place on Tuesday, July 8th, at 1.30pm, at St John’s school in Stratford Road, Sparkhill.
Organiser Hywel Williams, chairman of the community service committee, said: “This is the fourth year of this event thanks to help from Pertemps People Development Group who have kindly given us £300 sponsorship to enable us to give small prizes to the winners and also give each child a medal and certificate for taking part.”
PPDG’s PR manager Phil Pemble said that the company was delighted to make a donation to the cricket tournament for the fourth consecutive year as part of its active community support programme.
He added: “This is an excellent event which gives young boys and girls an opportunity to play sport, enjoy exercise, and socialise with pupils from other schools. We are delighted to be involved and I’m sure that everyone taking part will have an exciting afternoon.”
