Scouts Discover The Great Indoors!

Scouts Discover The Great Indoors! Dining al fresco in the damp and cold is a thing of the past for a group of Birmingham youngsters who love the great outdoors but prefer to eat in comfort.

Members of the 298th Scout Group, based in Greenvale Avenue, Sheldon, have taken delivery of a new dining shelter thanks to a donation of £200 from Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG).

Young members of the 298th Scout Group, based in Sheldon, celebrate getting a donation to pay for their new dining shelter. They are joined by Hayley Clark, of Pertemps People Development Group, and Cub leader Elizabeth Payne.

Generous workers at PPDG, based in Birmingham and Solihull, selected the Scout group to receive the donation from its Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme.

Paul Wedgbury, group Scout leader, said: “The money Pertemps People Development Group kindly donated to us has been used to buy a dining shelter so that when we take the Cubs and Scouts camping they will be able to sit under it and eat their meals out of the elements.

“Most of the youngsters will benefit from it and it will also be used as a shelter when we take the Beavers out. We have a very friendly, family-like group with a great set of like-minded adults who freely give up their spare time in order that the youngsters can benefit from all that today’s modern Scouting can offer them.”
