Jobseekers

If you are a Solihull resident over 25 years of age and have been claiming Job Seekers Allowance for more than 18 months, it is possible that you may be referred to participate in our New Deal 25+ programme.

New Deal is the brand name for one of a number of ‘Welfare to Work’ initiatives delivered by Pertemps Employment Alliance to help the unemployed job seeker.

In Birmingham and Solihull, clients over 25 years of age are linked to employment opportunities through New Deal 25+ projects, whilst younger people receive motivation and guidance from Gateway to Work programmes. In Solihull, Pertemps has been hailed by government sources as a leading light in the delivery of New Deal.

As the single entirely private sector led delivery agent, Pertemps helps those aged 25 and over to secure sustainable employment and has a remarkable record for doing so.

Since commencement of the first ever Pertemps ‘Welfare to Work’ initiative in 1999, well over a thousand people on that contract have returned to the workplace.

By applying this successful model, the New Deal team in Solihull is continuing to exceed all expectations, with virtually 100% of clients leaving the programme to enter employment.
All of our clients are designated an Employment Coach, offering new, individual and innovative assistance to enhance personal development.

Working in partnership, we can give our clients access to a range of expert advice, guidance and information to assist with career choices and job search activities.

Individual support and coaching is the key to success. Through early assessment, we can understand and identify people’s needs and develop a suitable action plan to meet their aspirations.

We believe that everyone deserves to have the best possible preparation for the future and every opportunity to access the workplace.

Our Employment Coaches raise awareness of all the provision we have available, offering opportunities for training, education, work experience and access to local vacancies.

Many of our staff have specialised skills and we have developed our own support packages to provide clients with the additional help they may need whilst on New Deal.
They include:

· Childcare: A lack of childcare facilities may prevent our clients benefiting from an employment opportunity. We are therefore happy to discuss any help they may need.

· Counselling: To understand and help provide solutions to existing problematical areas. Our staff can also provide access to those with specialist knowledge in fields such as homelessness, drugs and alcohol.

· Dyslexia:We have the right help available to respond to clients specific needs.

· Financial Assistance: Ranging from the reimbursement of travel expenses to self-employment start-up and access to a bank account. We have the flexibility to provide clothing, tools, transport or any other practical help needed.

· IBIS: A simple electronic calculation to give individual advice and information regarding any in-work benefits our clients may be eligible for.

· Numeracy / Literacy Skills & Overcoming Language Barriers: We can provide help with calculations, filling in forms, understanding letters and solving communication difficulties.

· Sight or Hearing: In addition to employing signers and competent interpreters, hearing difficulties can also be eased by the use of improved equipment, particularly for IT learning.

· Soft Skills: We can introduce clients to our innovative personal development programmes including the use of sport and music, raising levels of confidence, motivation and self-esteem.

· Training: We offer training courses with local colleges and training organisations, including specialised courses such as retail training with Kwiksave, GWINTO (gas installation) and RMB (construction).
